Peace Corps fires HIV+ Worker

In the recent issues of Poz I read about a PeaceCorps worker who was teaching HIV Prevention, but made a mistake one night, and ended up becoming positive. After this was found out, PeaceCorps (mind you, our US Gov’t & tax payer money) pulled him from his job because of his status. And up until February 2008, PeaceCorps wouldn’t even accept any applicants who were HIV+ (if you are positive, you can still do a lot, it’s not a death sentence like it used to be - people like for 25 or more ye

WOMEN’S HEALTH: Feel Like You Need Your Oil Changed?

This is surely an understatement if you do indeed suffer from any form of arthritis. If you do, you have probably wondered if it is actually possible to ‘change your oil‘. More and more natural solutions to the problem of arthritis are being employed, but, as usual, they involve addressing causes, not just handling the symptoms. It is generally accepted that osteoarthritis, the most common form, is caused ultimately by ‘age’ and ‘wear and tear’. While that is probably true, what is also true i

Gene Profiles Might Help Guide Lung Cancer Care

A sweeping genetic analysis suggests that the activity of certain genes might someday allow doctors to predict which lung cancer patients need more aggressive therapies and which do not. But the findings also underscore the difficulty of making such predictions, especially in the case of people with the earliest forms of the disease, when aggressive therapies could be of greatest value. The goal is to build effective predictors based on gene expression (activity) and use them prospectively to
